Imported Bloodlines Report 2026
Checking your membership…
The registry recorded eleven imports in the 2025–26 reporting year: six horses in hand (four mares, two stallions) and frozen semen from five additional stallions standing in Europe.
Horses in hand
The standout import is the Gelishikli-line stallion now standing in Ocala — the first new representative of that line in North America since 2014. Both imported stallions have completed DNA parentage verification and NFS testing (both clear) and are eligible for licensing inspection at the National Show in August.
Of the four mares, two arrive in foal to European stallions, which will add two further sire lines to the domestic pool if the foals are colts retained for breeding.
Frozen semen
Five new stallions are represented in domestic tanks this year, including two from the under-represented Kaplan line. Members planning to use imported semen should note the revised USDA import paperwork that took effect in January; the registry office can pre-check documents before purchase.
Line representation update
With these imports, North American breeding now draws on 14 of the breed’s 17 recognized sire lines — up from 12 last year. The full line-by-line census table, with mare family analysis, is available as a PDF in the document library below.
